Profile Instructor Sue Bridges

Hi, my name is Susan bridges. I first taught classes in Jersey(14 years ago) and now live in the North East where it is my pleasure to pass on what I have learned. A beginner will find classes warm and friendly and will soon begin to piece together all the different aspects that are involved. Students will feel the benefits from the very first class and the more they practice the more they will gain.

I have recently opened a Feng Shou class on a Wednesday evening, see class list below. Today I continue to learn and develop under our Chief Instructor Howard Gibbons careful guidance attending his advanced classes monthly.

Living in Hull in 1989, following the Chang Ming Diet, I had my first introduction to Lee Style Tai Chi. There is something special about the Taoist arts and at end of each class I felt great, elated. Here was an exercise system that encompassed the physical, mental and spiritual. The instructor and some of the students had something that I knew I needed ...gentle discipline?...or was it energy?...or was it that they were content-at peace with themselves and the world? ....or was it the laughter and childlike nature that was so refreshing and unstuck? Within a few months I was attending classes and courses in both Tai Chi and Feng Shou with Howard. That was 25 years ago. I am very fortunate to have taken that first step. My qualifications are 3rd Tengi in Tai Chi and 1st Tengi in Feng Shou.

As County Coach I hold regular gradings/ training days where students can progress their development and really feel a sense of achievement. It’s also an opportunity to meet other instructors and students from other clubs. This helps to ensure a high standard is maintained across the North east.

The importance of Grading....... Grading is an essential part of your Tai Chi journey. Over many years of teaching my observations are : A student that most develops is one prepared to grade. A personal commitment to learn the arts properly opens doorways within and here their Tai Chi journey begins.
