Student of a Master
- PaperbackEver wondered what Yin and Yang are all about? How to apply ancient philosophy in everyday modern life? The answers are here. Be inspired and uplifted. Be your true self.
Student of a Master examines the Taoists Arts of T'ai Chi, Self Defense and the philosophy out of which they were born, it is written without the use of obscure technical terms and is intended to appeal to the general public as well as those interested in T'ai Chi, Self Defense and Taoist philosophy.
By taking examples from nature, such as the trees, plants, insects, animals, rivers, the sea and also from mans inventiveness, the wheel, the computer and our social structures Howard has expressed his understanding of the Taoist principles. The two composite factors of the Tao are the Yin and Yang and he has shown using the above examples how these elements are imbued in everything from the material to the immaterial. Student of a Master is not a training manual but a viewpoint developed through personal experience and observations made from incidences occurring in his own life.
Howard was a student of the Taoist Arts under Grand Master Chee Soo for twenty one years up until his death in August 1994. Through dedication to personal training by attending courses and with frequent personal training with Chee Soo Howard was awarded the highest grade issued by Master Chee Soo. Howard has guided many students through their grades to instructor levels and continues the work of his master by holding weekend courses, coaching and developing more and more instructors to teach the true tradition of the Lee family Taoist Arts. He has been teaching these Arts for the last thirty years and during this time has conducted seminars and classes for the Adult Education Service, Mental Health Authority, Keep Fit Associations and taught in Northern Ireland where he was sponsored by Londonderry County Council. He has also had several articles published in newspapers and magazines on aspects of the Taoist arts.
